The Vatican announces the elevation of Divine Word Father Daisuke Narui, secretary for justice and peace at the Society of the Divine Word's General Curia in Rome, to bishop. Known in Japan for his relief work as head of Caritas, Father Narui studied in the United States. He will serve as the fourth bishop of the Diocese of Niigata.
