For Ohio priest, bilingual Mass is in English and American Sign Language

Like many priests educated in the Divine Word charism, Father David Cornett deeply appreciates the ability to communicate. In an interview with National Catholic Reporter, he said, "I thank God I have a gift for language." He uses that gift to communicate with a population that is rarely addressed: people who are deaf. Father Cornett was ordained a Divine Word Missionary priest in 1987 and left the Society of the Divine Word in 2004 to become a diocesan priest in Steubenville.
