Seeking meaning in life is fundamental to our human condition.

In The Roundabouts of Life, author Marlon Bobier Vargas SVD offers a series of reflections for readers searching for meaning.

“The Roundabouts of Life is a narrative of amazing people who unknowingly influenced me as I sought God’s love,” said the newly ordained Father Vargas. “I’m hoping that readers will see themselves in these stories, like a reflection in a mirror.”

Each chapter focuses on moments of grace during his journey to become a missionary priest. The story settings are varied—a medical center, a meeting for people with developmental disabilities, a Spanish pilgrimage route, the bedside of a dying confrere and more. The tales are followed by quotations from St. Arnold Janssen and questions to lead the reader to deeper reflection on moments of grace in their own lives.

“When we enter the roundabouts, we focus on how we drive the car, but our driving depends on the traffic in the roundabout,” he said. “I hope that the reader will come to a greater awareness of how they interact with the world, their faith, prayer life and our connection to one another.”

The Roundabouts of Life is available through Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/Roundabouts-Life-Journey-Soul-Mission/dp/0578725703. Proceeds of the book will go to SPRED, the Archdiocese of Chicago’s special religious development ministry for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
