Fr.
Martin Padovani’s first book, Healing Wounded Emotions,
released in 1987, was a best seller for Twenty-Third Publications.
In its seventeenth English printing, it has also been translated
into Polish, Portuguese, Slovak, Japanese, Chinese, Korean
and Spanish. It is also available in Braille. James Reed
of the Toronto School of Theology wrote, “The material
in this book is sound clinically and theologically, its
advice filled with wisdom and sensitivity, its composition
compelling and poetic.”
In his latest book, Healing Wounded Relationships, released
by Twenty-Third Publications in February, Fr. Padovani
continues his counseling mission in the same style, poetically
combining pastoral counseling with sound psychology. Now
available for Communication is the key to relating to others. Fr. Padovani writes, “The basic goal of communication is revelation, not resolution. Many people abandon the attempt to communicate, saying, ‘What’s the use of talking? We aren’t resolving anything.’ If
Healing Wounded Relationships is another valuable resource for all ministers who engage in pastoral counseling. Pastoral ministers can confidently use it in their counseling and recommend it to their parishioners and others with whom they minister. Ordained at Techny in 1960, Fr. Padovani has been a full-time, licensed family therapist practicing in Bordentown, New Jersey, since 1968. He has served as a member of the Burlington County Mental Health Board, Catholic chaplain to patients at the Carrier Foundation psychiatric hospital and a member of the Council of Priests of the Trenton diocese. He holds a Master’s degree in clinical psychology from the Iona Institute of Pastoral Counseling in New Rochelle, New York.
