| The primary mission of the Chicago Province of the Society of the
Divine Word is to call and train new missionaries to spread the Word
of God worldwide. Additionally, we provide staff and administration
for our educational and training centers, for parishes among the poor,
retreat centers, hospital chaplaincies, communication centers for
minority programming, and prison ministry.
Missionaries trained here are
sent to Divine Word missions in 60 countries throughout
the world. In the Chicago Province, priests and
Brothers do pastoral work in inner city parishes;
ethnic ministries among Black, Hispanic, Vietnamese,
Polish, Portuguese, and other groups. They also
minister in schools, hospitals and prisons.
