Fr. Edward Tetteh is pastor of Blessed Sacrament-Our Lady of the Divine Shepherd Parish, Trenton. Fr. Tetteh was born in the southeastern part of Ghana in 1967. He studied at Pope John Paul II Secondary School and Minor Seminary, earned a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and religion from the University of Ghana. He entered St. Victor’s Seminary in northern Ghana in September 1993. Following a one-year novitiate, he made his first profession of vows in 1996. He returned to the seminary to complete his theology studies, and then served a pastoral year at the National Medium Security Prison in Ghana. Bishop Vincent Boi-Nai, SVD, ordained him a priest on July 28, 2001.

The two parishes merged in July 2005, Fr. Tetteh calls the parishioners the “twenty-five apostles” because they represent more than twenty-five ethnic groups that make up the parish. They come from the U.S., a number of European countries, Nigeria, Liberia, Congo, Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, Trinidad, Panama, Guyana, Bahamas and the Philippines. It is a diversified parish with a rich cultural heritage. Fr. Tetteh is pleased that one other SVD is serving with him at Blessed Sacrament-Our Lady of the Divine Shepherd—Fr. Vincent Burke. Fr. Burke, who was the headmaster and rector of SVD Theological Seminary in Ghana during the time Fr. Tetteh was a student there, is now assigned as parochial vicar of the Diocese of Trenton.
