What we do
The Society of the Divine Word is the largest Roman Catholic order that focuses on missionary work. Throughout our history, we have entered lands where people are in need. As we listen to the people, observe their ways and become a part of their communities, we also discover how best we can show God’s love to them.
Sometimes we are their advocates, fighting injustice. Sometimes we build structure for their education systems. Sometimes we are catalysts for social development programs that provide food, clothing and shelter.
In the Chicago Province, we are organized into districts and communities. Parishes and cultural ministries fall within the districts while other functions are within communities.
